The New York Fashion Week shows for Spring 2018 had a common theme of unique and diverse beauty.
Let's take a look at top 7 beauty trends that amazed us:
Trend (1): Flower Embellishments
Regardless if you jumped on the bloom crown bandwagon or not, you can’t deny how pretty these blooms are
as a hair accessory. Mainly hair stylists separate them throughout the hair in updos or place them behind the ears.
You can copy this look when you’re at those music festivals during spring time or at a formal event just like
Jennifer Lawrence did.
Naeem Khan, Philipp Plein. The Blonds.
Trend (2): Brush stroke liner
Consider this trend as a grown up version of finer painting. Take on electric and/or vibrant colours, like red, blue,
pink, or even a colour like black and swipe it on your eye lids with a generous amount of eye shadow. There’s no
need for precision for this artsy look which is best suited for a night out.
Jason Wu, Rachel Comey, Tom Ford.
Trend (3): Accent stripes on nails
Simple designed manicures were a popular at New York’s fashion week. Instead of just keeping it nail bear with
a flesh toned polish. They are designed with a minimalistic design; worn on a single nail, its beautiful yet subtle.
Tibi, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Kate Spade
Trend (4): Glossy lips
Technically lip gloss, everyone’s favourite 90’s beauty product, is making a big come back for us in spring of this
year (2018). As a super matte lips have taken over Instagram for a while now it’s refreshing to see natural,
high-shine pouts on their way up.
Fenty Puma by Rihanna, Jason Wu, Prabal Gurung.
Trend (5): Not-So-Basic-Ponytail
This spring simple black elastic won’t do! We saw countless fresh takes on the ponytail from being wrapped in
neon bungees, to braids, to artful layering. This sporty hairstyle has never ben chicer.
Christian Soriano, Fenty Puma by Rihanna, Novis.
Trend (6): Embellished eyes
Obviously designers were loving the look of bedazzled lips so they decided to enrich the eyes with them. You
may not be showing up to your office with pearls and gems super glued on your eyes, but this trend is definitely
suitable for a concert or a festival.
Jermey Scott, Katie Gallangher, Lawrence & Chico.
Trend (7): Soft Curls
Put it down and step away from the straightening iron! Whether you’re born with ringlets or have to fake it, next
season is all about embracing brushed-out soft textures. Odile Gilbert used a three-eights-inch curling rod to
achieve this look at Simkhais.
Jonathan Simkhai, Public school, Cynthia Rowley..
