H&M is pleased to announce that the 2017 Holiday campaign film will star Nicki Minaj alongside Jesse Williams and John Turturro. Directed by Johan Renck, the film tells a story of a parallel fantasy world filled with memorable characters and a universal message of caring for one another.
A modern take on the classic fairytale, the film centres around a heroic little girl who tracks down the evil brother of Santa Claus in order to save the holiday season from his selfishness. Nicki Minaj stars as the mother of the little girl as well as the fabulous fairy named the Wisest Thingy, while Jesse Williams plays the dual role of the father and the supernatural Fastest Fairy, and John Turturro takes on the part of both Santa Claus and the evil brother of Santa Claus.
“I love the film's over all empowering message. I love seeing this young girl become the champion that lives in all of us. There's always magic in the air during the Holidays,” says Nicki Minaj
“It’s exciting to see our festive designs come to life together with such inspirational talents. They definitely added some extra magic to the film and we hope that our customers will love how the fashion is presented throughout the holiday season at H&M,” says Pernilla Wohlfahrt, H&M’s Head of Design and Creative Director.
A wide range of festive fashion for the whole family and selected garments seen in the film will be available in stores during the Holiday campaign period, which starts November 9.
The full version of the Holiday film will go live on hm.com November 28.
Power Dressing for the Party: H&M’s Holiday 2017 Womenswear Collection
From the glamorous new goth to punky après-ski princess, H&M’s Holiday 2017 womenswear focuses on texture: high-shine, faux fur, glitter, mesh, lurex, glittering
rhinestones, fluffy knits and jacquards. “While we’re playing with two distinct personas for the holiday collections, they both share an uber femme attitude – figure-flattering silhouettes, a confidence to mix and match statement fabrics and a stylish strut. It’s power dressing for the party!” says Pernilla Wohlfahrt, H&M’s Head of Design and Creative Director.
The punky après-ski princess is not afraid to wear head-to-toe red and adds some soft white, silver and black. Key items include a balloon-sleeve red dress, a sheer maxi-
length skirt, high-waisted plaid trousers, a sparkly knit jumper and ski-inspired stretchy stirrup trousers. Throw a fuzzy faux fur coat literally over anything this season or go bold with an ultra-shiny hooded puffer jacket in bright red. It’s sporty and sexy at the same time, and thoroughly feminine.
Relaxed Formal: H&M Holiday 2017 Menswear Collection
H&M’s Holiday 2017 menswear sees formalwear and sportswear freely borrowing silhouettes and materials from one another.
“In the same way that the relationship between the catwalk and street style has become increasingly symbiotic, the divide between eveningwear and daywear is dissolving and that makes dressing for the holiday season even more compelling this year,” says Andreas Löwenstam, H&M’s Head of Menswear Design.
For the perfect holiday look, menswear classics such as a single-breasted overcoat, tuxedo blazer and button-up shirts team up with soft, comfortable sporty separates such as
sweatshirts and hoodies and take on a more relaxed vibe. The statement varsity jacket is
paired with a half-zip knit top and tailored trousers that feature piping. The colour palette is
classic in nature with black, navy and shades of grey as the foundation, while camel and plum are the lively accents that together with the dark shades allude to a modern and masculine attitude.
Jolly Good Fun: Holiday wear from H&M Kids
For Holiday 2017, H&M Kids puts a playful twist on seasonal classics. From cheerful party looks to snazzy casual wear to cosy pieces perfect for snuggling up with family, the focus is firmly on holiday fun. Joyful red, charcoal grey, deep pink, bright green, soft blue and black reign supreme, while classic checks, traditional tweeds and knits are combined with printed graphics.
The festive looks have a touch of opulence – think all-over sequins, dreamy tulle, velvet trims, braces and bow-ties. For the dress-down days, cute animals, dinosaurs and reindeers make an appearance.
